ArtMED Final Conference in Brescia: Shaping the Future of Sustainable, Connected and Safe Mobility Across European Regions

25/02/2026

On 24 February 2026, the ArtMED – Planning for Autonomous Mobility on Demand Final Conference took place at the University of Brescia (Italy), bringing together experts, institutions, researchers and mobility practitioners from across Europe. Hosted by ALOT S.r.l. in cooperation with the University of Brescia, the event offered a forward-looking discussion on how cities and regions can advance the deployment of sustainable, connected and safe mobility services across the Euro-MED area.

A European dialogue on the next generation of mobility

Under the title “Shaping the future of mobility: planning sustainable solutions across European regions”, the conference explored how public authorities and mobility ecosystems can move faster from strategy to implementation—especially in the context of autonomous mobility on demand, shared mobility, and integrated public transport solutions.

The event was facilitated by Guido Piccoli (ALOT S.r.l.) and opened with:

  • Introduction to the ArtMED project by Denis Kresevič (Municipality of Postojna)

  • Green Living Areas Mission results presented by Alexia Boulanger (Environment Park) and Michela Fossa (IRE Liguria)

Key thematic pillars and expert contributions

The programme was structured around five thematic pillars, reflecting the core dimensions of future mobility planning:

A) Technology trends shaping the future of mobility

  • Alessandra Flammini (University of Brescia, MOST)

  • Marco Diana (Politecnico di Torino)

B) Towards net-zero mobility: energy, infrastructure and clean transition

  • Fabio Pressi (A2A)

  • Theocharis Vlachopanagiotis (RHOE)

C) Road safety: from risk analysis to action

  • Antonio Avenoso (European Transport Safety Council)

  • Stefano Zampino (National Agency for the Safety of Railways and Road and Motorway Infrastructures)

  • Roberto Ventura (University of Brescia)

D) Mobility demand and urban planning

  • Maurizio Tira (University of Brescia)

  • Camila Garcia (Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa)

  • Silvia Rossetti and Ilaria De Noia (University of Parma)

E) Urban mobility in practice: integrating public transport, shared and on-demand solutions

  • Benedetto Barabino (University of Brescia)

  • Martina Carra (University of Brescia)

  • Fabio Antonialli (École Centrale de Lyon) and Albert Borreguero Ruiz (CARNET Future Mobility)

The conference concluded with closing remarks by Maurizio Tira (University of Brescia).

Key takeaways

Across sessions, speakers and participants highlighted shared priorities for regions seeking to accelerate mobility innovation:

  • Strategic planning and governance are essential to translate technology potential into real-world deployment.

  • The transition to net-zero mobility requires aligned action across energy, infrastructure and service design.

  • Road safety must remain a non-negotiable cornerstone—moving from analysis to implementation and measurable impact.

  • Mobility planning needs a sharper focus on demand patterns, urban form, and inclusive service provision.

  • Real progress depends on integrated systems, connecting public transport with shared and on-demand mobility options.

Thank you

ArtMED warmly thanks the University of Brescia, ALOT S.r.l., all speakers, and project partners for supporting this important final dialogue and for contributing to stronger regional capacity for sustainable and innovative mobility planning.
